After his retirement from the U.S. Navy, Jim pursued his life-long interest in personal finance and joined MetLife where he enjoyed a successful career until 2016 when the firm transitioned to a General Agency of Massachusetts Mutual Life Insurance Company (MassMutual). With both companies Jim has been a Special Care (Special Needs) Planner. Jim's professional designations include CERTIFIED FINANCIAL PLANNERTM (CFP®) professional, Chartered Financial Consultant (ChFC®), Accredited Estate Planner (AEP®), and Life Underwriter Training Council Fellow (LUTCF®). He holds appropriate insurance and securities licenses.

Before his retirement from the Navy, Jim authored and implemented the U.S. Navy's Family Advocacy Program. He has been a workshop presenter at the NAMI, NDSS, WMS, and NORD national conferences. In addition to Special Care Planning, Jim's primary focus is on pre-retirement, retirement and estate planning.
He is a thirty plus year member of the Vienna, VA Rotary Club and an avid gardener. Jim and his wife of over fifty years, Maryanne, have four children and ten grandchildren who are a special joy to watch as they grow and mature. Jim and Maryanne recently moved to Blue Ridge, Virginia.
